There are two types of formatting of these reports:-
- Type 1 Report: – In this report we have the system description, implementations or control and design.
- Type 2 Report: – In this report we have the system description, operating effectiveness of control and design.
Both the reports include management assertion.
- SOC 2: – These reports are made purposefully to meet the needs of a wide range of users that need brief information and clarification about the controls at a service organization related to security, and processing integrity of the systems the service organization uses to process users data and the confidentiality and privacy of the information processed by these systems. - SOC 3: – These reports are specifically designed for the users who need assurance of control at a service organization related to availability, security, privacy, processing integrity confidentiality but they do not have the need or knowledge for the effective use of the SOC 2 report. SOC 3 report and that could be distributed freely and is for general use.
